Wine Cooler Repair
Zone temperature control, humidity and compressor service for Sub-Zero wine storage, built-in and undercounter.
What people ring about
- One zone reading several degrees off what the panel shows
- Condensation or icing inside the cabinet
- Loud hum or buzz that carries through the house at night
In what order
What it usually turns out to be
Wine storage gets judged on two or three degrees, so it gets called in for faults a refrigerator would shrug off: one zone reading off what the panel claims, condensation inside the glass, or a hum that carries through the house at night. Most of it is control, airflow or mechanical contact rather than refrigeration.
-
What the zones are really doing
We put our own probes in both zones before believing a display. A stalled damper motor or a drifting sensor produces exactly the complaint people describe as the upper zone being wrong, and it is not a compressor fault.
-
Humidity, seals and circulation
Beads of water inside the glass usually mean a shifted door seal plus a circulation fan too slow to move damp air. Both are worth dealing with together, because either one alone leaves the labels at risk.
-
Where the noise is coming from
A buzz through a wall or ceiling is often the cabinet touching tile or a mounting foot that has backed out, not the compressor. It takes minutes to prove and saves a conversation about replacing the unit.
-
High-temperature alarms in summer
An alarm that only trips in the afternoon points at the condenser or the charge under real load. We read it hot, on gauges, rather than at nine in the morning when everything looks fine.
What it costs
What wine cooler repair costs here
Each course below covers parts and labour on Sub-Zero equipment. Where a job lands inside its range comes down to the part and how far back in the cabinet it sits — measured on site, not guessed at over the phone.
The service call
Flat $89 service call covering the visit and full diagnosis, credited against the repair once you approve it.
- Door gasket or seal replacement
- $270–$620
- Evaporator or condenser fan motor
- $300–$660
- Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor
- $280–$600
- Ice maker, water valve or supply line
- $270–$770
- Electronic control board
- $440–$870
- Compressor or sealed-system repair
- $1,450–$3,120
You are given the band on the phone and the firm figure on site, once the fault is confirmed with the unit open. Nothing is dismantled and no part is ordered until you have agreed that number, and the $89 you paid for the visit comes off it in full the moment you approve the work.
For scale $11,980–$21,190 is what a comparable built-in replacement, before installation and cabinetry work comes to. That is the arithmetic behind repairing a cabinet that is otherwise sound.

The upper zone was sitting several degrees above what the panel claimed, which matters for reds. A stalled damper motor. He confirmed it with his own probes rather than believing the display.
Aracely T. · Arcadia
Lower zone icing at the back, bottles coming out damp. A plugged drain line and a tired humidity sensor, both handled. Only gripe is that I had to leave two messages before anyone called back.
Ofelia S. · Ahwatukee
Beads of water on the inside of the glass had me worried for the labels. A shifted door seal, and the circulation fan turning too slowly to move the damp air. Dry now, months later.
